The Board of Education has adopted Regulation 8117 dealing with Identity Card/Keycard terms and conditions of use.
When this agreement was originally presented, the Association had many concerns and immediately called upon legal counsel. Both our attorney and the Board of Education’s attorney have spent time going over the concerns to address some key issues.
The Board of Education has the right to set reasonable policy. We have successfully challenged some of the wording in the regulation which resulted in changes/withdraw of certain language.
Employees will be presented with their keycard soon. It is expected that all employees comply with the regulation 8117. The Board has determined that there will be a $10 replacement fee for keycards. If you feel your keycard was damaged due to circumstances beyond your control, please let the administration know so a free replacement can be considered.
If at any point you have a specific concern/issue relating to the regulation, we can consider action on a case by case basis.
At this point, our legal counsel considers this regulation satisfactory.

Dr. Valeski, myself and the respective attorneys from both sides have been working on the language for the Keycards.
Changes are being made. Staff members will NOT be required to sign the current document that was received from B.Guiliana on October 24, 2016.
We are currently working on a solution which will better relay the intention of the district to provide a secure environment for both staff and students.
I expect a resolution to this issue by mid-week next week. Keycards will NOT be given out until the issue is resolved.
